The Jane Boroski Survival & Active Cold Case Task Force

On the night of August 6, 1988, 22-year-old Jane Boroski, who was seven months pregnant, stopped at a closed market in Keene, New Hampshire, to purchase soda from a vending machine. A man driving a dark vehicle pulled up, exited, and launched a vicious unprovoked knife attack, stabbing her twenty-seven times.

Miraculously, Boroski survived the assault, and her unborn daughter was delivered safely. Boroski provided detectives with a detailed physical description of the assailant: a white male with dark hair, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, wearing glasses, and driving a dark sedan with Massachusetts plates.

The New Hampshire State Police Cold Case Unit and Vermont State Police maintain an active joint task force. Investigators continue re-testing forensic trace evidence, fibers, and partial blood profiles using modern DNA amplification techniques. Detectives are focused on several persons of interest who lived in the Claremont-Keene corridor in the 1980s.
