On June 3, 1978, a 45-70 year old woman was found buried in a shallow grave near Alligator Alley with blunt force trauma to the head. She had extensive injuries to her face, scalp and right hand. Forensic investigation revealed a large amount of high quality dental work which at that time would have only been possible to obtain in a more densely populated area. This dental work would have been performed within two years of her death, and she may have still been under the active care of her dentist very near the time of her death.
Joyce Kennedy was officially ruled out this week as the possible identification of this woman. She was last seen at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in 1978, presumably intending to meet up with her ex-husband to accept his loan repayment. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance. Her ex-husband was never charged in this case; he is now deceased.
Both cases remain unsolved.
