WHO WAS DAMON HUNTER?

"I have a gun. If the cops come, I will kill everyone in here, then myself. Put all the fifties, twenties and tens in a large envelope with this note quickly and calmly."

On December 21, 1991, a young man's partially decomposed body was found hanging from a tree in the Alabama woods. It soon became apparent he had used a pile of logs to stand on in order to commit suicide this way.

As the police began to investigate this young man's identity, they soon made a connection to a car they had found abandoned a few months prior. The car had been towed and was never thoroughly inspected until now. Inside the car were several items of curiosity including a forged birth certificate from Washington State bearing the name "Damon Hunter" and a note which read "I have a gun. If the cops come, I will kill everyone in here, then myself. Put all the fifties, twenties and tens in a large envelope with this note quickly and calmly."

This young man may have been in serious financial difficulty. His family may have been threatened and he may have already been physically assaulted over this debt. It is possible he was considering a robbery attempt in order to come up with the money.
